Circle Theatre partners with Wealthy Theatre to show Halloween movies
This fall Community Circle Theatre has partnered with Wealthy Theatre to present Movies on the Lawn. For two back-to-back weekends, Grand Rapids community members have the opportunity to celebrate Halloween on the lawn at Circle Theatre with their favorite spooky movie and a costume contest.
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” was shown this past weekend on Oct. 1-3 and “Hocus Pocus” will be showing next weekend from Oct. 8-10. For both events, doors open at 7 pm and the films begin at 8. Tickets are $15 and all proceeds from the event will go to both Wealthy Theatre and Circle Theatre.

Brewery Vivant to crown Poutine Monarch
Brewery Vivant takes a spin on a Canadian classic dish for their upcoming event. The chefs at Brewery Vivant are concocting a collection of poutines for their Poutine Clash on Sunday, Oct. 11. The community is invited to participate in the event and try the unique plates of poutine from the brewery. Participants will taste the pountines and vote for their favorites. There will be one winner and it will be crowned as Poutine King/Queen.
Brewery Vivant is also a part of AlePrize. Their space will be the host of artwork by Madison Chaffer and Gabrielle Podkul.
Podcasts in the Park event brings together diverse voices
Local leaders and creative thinkers collaborated to provide an afternoon of thoughtful conversation and discussion. In Rosa Parks Circle from 2-5:30 on Oct. 3, Podcasts in the Park: Race, Opportunity and Obstacles will take place. The program included a conversation with the Grand Rapids City Manager “Full Exposure with Mark Washington,” a panel of Latina civic leaders “Latina in Grand Rapids” and a performance of the “In My Humble Opinion” podcast.
Fable the Poet from the Diatribe, Kyd Kane and AutoPilot will perform during intermissions of the event.
