Experience World of Winter installations

Starting Feb. 4 there will be a new installation put in downtown Grand Rapids for the World of Winter events, “Loop.” This will be an illuminated musical interactive piece. This piece features short flip-book style movies which are inspired by Quebec literature. This is played in a zoetrope style, which is an optical toy from the 19th century. “Loop” is a mix of a music box, zoetrope and railcar. This will feature six different short films from different creators in Montreal.

Another piece to experience during World of Winter is the “Kindness Machine.” This was made by a local artist Andrea Zelenak. The intention behind this piece is to spread kindness by even the smallest of actions. The piece features a colorful vending machine that challenges people to be kind to others.
