LGBT Resource Center celebrates Asexual Awareness Week

This year, Grand Valley’s Milton E. Ford LGBT Resource Center is once again joining in an international campaign dedicated to raising awareness and education on the topic of asexuality, an orientation defined by a lack of sexual attraction or desire.

The Center will be having their Asexual Awareness Week celebration at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20. The event will be held virtually over Zoom, and a link to the meeting can be found on their website at www.gvsu.edu/lgbtrc. Learn more about the 2020 Election

With this year’s national election coming right around the corner on Nov. 3 (and even sooner for those doing absentee voting), everyone’s mind is on the upcoming presidential vote. In order to facilitate productive discussion on this landmark event in American history, Grand Valley State University’s Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies is teaming up with the Department of Political Science to host a 2020 Election Panel.

Discussing topics like political polarization and how the election cycle has been subverted by the pandemic, the panel will be held live over Zoom from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22. Those interested can RSVP for the event on their website at www.gvsu.edu/hc.

Experience Design Thinking

On Friday, Oct. 23, the Design Thinking Academy of Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies is hosting a free virtual event to introduce interested members of the Grand Valley State University community to “design thinking,” a creative, collaborative problem solving approach that has been rapidly adopted by global companies like Google and Apple.

The starter kit session will take place from 2-3 p.m. and will be facilitated by Stanford University Innovation Fellow Amanda Moy. Those interested in the event, which is both INT 101 and 201 approved, can RSVP on the Design Thinking Academy’s website at www.gvsu.edu/designthinking.
