For the second week in a row, junior forward Ashley Botts has been awarded with the GLIAC Athlete of the Week Award. Botts, who scored three goals in three wins this past weekend for the women’s soccer team, now has a team-high seven goals to lead the 6-0-2 Lakers.

She has also recorded a pair of assists this season, and those five points last weekend pushed her into seventh place on the all-time points list at GVSU. Her goal in the team’s game against the University of Indianapolis on Friday was a game winner for the Lakers.

The team will return to the field on Friday night at home against Northwood University.

After finishing second in the Michael Corbett Fall Inviational, senior Sarah Hoffman has been awarded with the GLIAC women’s golf Athlete of the Week honors. Hoffman put together a strong showing at the Corbett, shooting an even-par 72 in the first round followed by a 76 in the final round to finish with a 148. Her play in the tournament also helped fuel the GVSU team to a first-place finish at the invitational.

Hoffman and the team will return to action this weekend in Big Rapids, Mich. to play in the Ferris State Invitational at Katke Golf Club.
