Two reports of sexual assault, investigation continues

At approximately 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, the Grand Valley State University Police Department was contacted regarding a report of a sexual assault Friday, Aug. 26 at approximately 11:50 p.m. The victim was walking near 48th Avenue and Lake Michigan Drive near Burger King. The victim was approached by a man described as having tan skin, approximately 6’2″ with dark hair, wearing basketball shorts and a backward baseball cap. The reported assault took place on the side of the roadway.

The same weekend, a report of sexual assault was made Sunday, Aug. 28 at approximately 3 p.m. to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. The victim reported the assault occurred off-campus, at approximately 1:50 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. The victim reported being in the parking lot of Campus View apartments on 42nd Avenue. in Allendale, retrieving items from the back seat of a vehicle, when an unknown man approached from behind. The victim reported the subject committed a sexual assault against the victim and left the area. No description of the suspect is available. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the complaint.
