Grand Valley State University’s student senate will hold a candlelit vigil Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in memory of the shooting victims at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The vigil will take place next to the Cook Carillon Tower on GVSU’s Allendale Campus.

At the vigil, hot chocolate and popcorn will be sold, with all proceeds going toward the victims of the shooting. Jonathan Bowman, student senate president, issued the following statement:

A student senator came up with the idea and thought this would be an opportunity to come together as students during a difficult time. We hope this will be a unifying event for our campus community. During this event we will offer candles for everyone and then we will be selling hot chocolate and popcorn to raise money for a non profit which provides services to victims of these types of situations.
