“A scarf is a perfect accessory in the fall and winter, they can add a pop of color to any wardrobe,” said Kate Schick, the public relations officer.

The members said to remember that gloves can be accessories too, and a cute umbrella can add to an ensemble, as dressing for the weather is one of the fashion do’s for winter.

“Wool coats and sweaters are a great way to dress for winter while still looking put together,” said Megan Malone, Fashion Club president. “For women, an oversized sweater looks great with leggings and tall boots.”

Layers are also important, club members said. The members recommended adding leg warmers, knit tights or boots tucked into pants.

“Remember there are more boot options than just Uggs.” secretary Sam Meacham said. “Try combat boots.”

Another fashion don’t for the season would be to “forget” to add tights to an ensemble that needs them, or to wear running shoes with skinny jeans, the members said.

The group said that though it is important to stay warm, definitely don’t wear comfort clothes every day, or look like a marshmallow. And forget about the daily jeans and North Face — switch it up.

“For men, a fitted sweater compliments a nice pair of jeans in the winter months,” Malone said.

Senior member George Berger said he recommends wool coats since they are warmer than fleece and sweatshirts, and more fashionable.

For fuller-figured students, Malone said anyone can be fashionable as long as they exude confidence.

“Buy appropriate sizes and styles for your body type,” she said. “Highlight your curves instead of trying to hide them under baggy clothing; this usually makes you look bigger and square.”

Malone said shorter people should be sure their pants are not too long and dragging on the ground, because it will make their legs look shorter, not to mention making their feet wet and uncomfortable all day.

Vice president Chelsea Bashore said to have fun with what could be depressing cold-weather clothes by adding fun details to coats or hats.

“This is a great way to make your look pop,” she said.

The bottom line, said Malone, is to have fun with your clothes.
