Armstrong signs with Boston Brawlers

Former Grand Valley State University standout Matt Armstrong was recently signed by the Boston Brawlers of the Fall Experimental Football League.

Armstrong lost out to fellow GVSU standout Tim Lelito in a battle for a spot at center with the New Orleans Saints earlier this season.

This season is the first season for the FXFL, which features four teams and is hoping to become a feeder league to the NFL.

The FXFL kicked off its season on Nov. 8.

Lacrosse team lends helping hand in Detroit

After a fall scrimmage, the Grand Valley State University women’s lacrosse team joined forces with the University of Detroit-Mercy team in a bout of community service.

The squads travelled to the Brightmoor section of Detroit to take part in “Neighbors Building Brightmoor,” a community service project that created the Brightmoor Youth Garden in 2006 in an effort to provide a healthy space for local children.

GVSU and UDM helped to clear areas of dirt and other debris.
