GVSU Football inks four-game series with Colorado State-Pueblo

Grand Valley State and Colorado State-Pueblo announced jointly today a four-year football agreement that will begin with the 2020 season and run through 2023. The games will take place at Colorado State-Pueblo’s Thunderbowl in 2020 and 2022, while the games in 2021 and 2023 will be played at GVSU’s Lubbers Stadium.

The Lakers and Timberwolves have only met twice before on the gridiron, with both contests ending in Laker wins in NCAA DII playoff action.

The 2020 match-up is set for Saturday, Sept. 12 at 8:00 p.m. in Pueblo, while the 2021 game will be played Saturday, Sept. 11, at 7:00 p.m.

GVSU Women’s Tennis drops match to undefeated Wayne State, 2-5

The Grand Valley State women’s tennis team lost to Wayne State, 2-5, Saturday, Oct. 19. The Lakers fall to 7-1 in the GLIAC, while Wayne State takes sole possession of first place in the GLIAC with an 8-0 record.

GVSU’s Vera Griva (No. 1 singles) and Taylor Barrett (No. 3 singles) earned wins in their respective matches, but every other singles match was won by the Warriors.

The Lakers did sweep doubles for the first time all season, but that wasn’t enough to get them a victory.

Men’s DII Club Hockey picks up solid win over Adrian

The Grand Valley State men’s DII club hockey team got a big regular season win this past Wednesday, Oct. 16, defeating Adrian 5-2.

Freshman Zach Kippe put up a hat trick in the game, while freshman Gage Thrall and freshman Adam Hillebrand also found the back of the net in the win.

The Lakers will face Adrian again Thursday, Oct. 24, as they host the Bulldogs at Griff’s Georgetown.
