Gianni Ferrero of Grand Valley State University’s men’s swimming and diving team has been named CollegeSwimming.com’s swimmer of the week. The freshman from Idstein, Germany has quickly become a difference maker for GVSU, winning seven individual events in his first three meets. In Saturday’s 165-135 victory over No. 11 Wayne State, Ferrero broke a pair of GVSU pool records in both the 500 free and 200 IM. He was also named the GLIAC Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week last week. The Lakers will close out the 2013 regular season Saturday when they welcome Indianapolis University at 1 p.m.
