Center for Women and Gender Equity holds “Ladybird” screening
Grand Valley State University’s Center for Women and Gender Equity will be screening “Ladybird“ as part of their Femme Film Friday series on Sept. 29.
The movie will be screened from 4 to 6 p.m. in Kirkhof Room 1201. Movie theater-themed snacks will be provided.
“Ladybird” is the first movie in the Center’s Friday film series. The series aims to tell the stories of femme-identified individuals.
Grand Rapids vintage store to host collage night
Second Vibes, a vintage store in Grand Rapids, will be hosting a collage crafting night at their store on Sept. 27 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Second Vibes is located at 13 Division Ave. S.
Magazines and collage supplies will be provided. The event will be donation-based and attendees are encouraged to pay what they can for participating.
GV to host two-day digital art event series
Feeling Technology is a two-day series presented by Grand Valley State University that discusses topics related to art in digital spaces. On Sept. 27-28, artists Ben Grosser and Lauren Lee McCarthy will be joined by GVSU faculty members to present technology topics in contemporary culture.
Sept. 27’s events include Experience Design & Digital Interfaces, Ethics of Digital Culture and Feeling Technology Lecture. On Sept. 28, Collaboration & Practice and a video screening will be taking place.

Grand Rapids Film Festival set to take place
The Grand Rapids Film Festival will be taking place Sept. 30- Oct. 1.
The festival will begin with a free kickoff event the day before on Sept. 29 from 6-9 p.m. at Muse GR, an interactive gallery studio. Filmmakers will be able to connect with others in the industry and learn from a panel discussing digital film distribution.
On Sept. 30, The Collaborative Lab will be hosting a 24-hour Micro Film Challenge. Those in attendance will be given 24 hours to create a one-minute film. Submissions will then be screened and judged the following day at Studio Park. Registration is required.
Film submissions to the festival, including contestants’ microfilms, will be screened all day long at Studio Park on Oct. 1. Awards will be distributed to the festival winners. RSVP is required.
