GV art app to launch augmented reality feature

Grand Valley State University’s mobile app, Art at GVSU, is set to be upgraded on Wednesday, Sept. 6, with a new augmented reality feature.

The app, which students can use to explore more than 25,000 works of art in GVSU’s collection, will now allow users to view animated artwork and obtain further information on the gallery’s pieces. Through the use of augmented reality, paintings and sculptures will come alive through new visual and audio elements.

According to GVNext, the upgrade aims to provide digital literacy and encourage students to interact with the artwork that adorns the campus.

Art at GVSU is a free application available for iPhone and Android devices. More information about the application and its development can be found on the art gallery’s website
